They call it the “magic hour” for a reason! Sunsets wrap your family in soft, warm light and offer stunning backdrops. The biggest perk of the Gulf Coast is that we’re facing westward — meaning the sunset happens right over the Gulf.

What to expect

Timing is everything

A sunset session is all about timing — usually the hour before the sun touches the horizon. For that reason, we keep our sunset sessions on a flexible timeframe. We plan your arrival down to the very minute to make the most out of your session.

Beaches, parks, and more!

Sunset portraits shine on the beach, but they’re just as magical at a bayfront park or open field! Our team specializes in working in natural light, finding the best angles for your family. Wherever the western sky is open, we can chase the light — and we know the spots across Sarasota and Manatee where it lands just right.

Where we shoot

The best sunsets in Florida

With no shortage of shoreline, the Gulf Coast captures beautiful sunsets right over the water! Bean Point on Anna Maria Island is the area’s legendary sunset stage, Siesta Key’s quartz sand reflects the color like a soft natural light bounce, and the quieter keys near Venice let the sky feel like it’s all yours. For orange hues and cotton-candy skies, there’s no better place to be than Florida’s west coast — we’ll point you to the right spot for your evening.

Sunset Family Photos FAQs

What exactly is “golden hour”?

It’s the roughly one-hour stretch after sunrise or before sunset when the sun is low and the light is warm and soft. For families, the evening golden hour into sunset is the most popular and flattering.

Does a sunset session cost more?

Yes — the golden-hour (sunset) time slot adds a flat $100 on top of either package. It’s the most in-demand light of the day, and we plan your session to the minute to make the most of it.

Won’t the kids be tired by sunset?

We keep sunset sessions short and playful, and the light window is brief by design. Most kids do great — and a little ice cream afterward never hurts.

What happens after the sun goes down?

The few minutes after sunset (“blue hour”) can produce stunning, soft-toned images too. We’ll often grab a few more frames as the sky changes color.
