Crescent Beach, Siesta Key: Photo Guide & Family Sessions

Just south of Siesta Key’s famous main beach, Crescent Beach keeps the same impossibly white quartz sand with a fraction of the crowd — and at its southern end, the limestone ledges of Point of Rocks add a backdrop you won’t find anywhere else on the key.

The quiet side of the world’s best sand

Crescent Beach is the local move: the exact quartz-white sand that makes Siesta Beach famous, without the pavilion crowds behind your photos. The shoreline is wide and gently sloped, the water is clear and calm most evenings, and there’s room to let kids wander while we shoot.

Point of Rocks

At Crescent’s south end, limestone outcroppings step down into the Gulf — tide pools, texture, and warm stone color against white sand and turquoise water. It’s the most distinctive backdrop on Siesta Key, and by day one of the area’s favorite snorkeling spots. For sessions, the rocks give us variety a flat beach can’t: seated family groups, kids exploring, couples against the ledges.

Getting in without the stress

The trade-off for fewer crowds is smaller parking. The public accesses along Midnight Pass Road and Point of Rocks Road have limited spots, so many families get dropped off or hop the free open-air Siesta Key Breeze trolley that runs the length of the key. If you’re staying on Siesta, you may be able to walk the beach straight to us — we’ll sort out the easiest plan for your group when you book.

Crescent Beach tips

  • Water shoes help for photos on the rocks — the limestone can be slick at the waterline.

  • Weekday evenings are the quiet window; weekend sunsets draw more visitors.

  • Soft, solid pastels photograph beautifully against the bright white sand.

  • Check the tide — lower tide exposes more of Point of Rocks for exploring.

Crescent Beach FAQs

Is Crescent Beach the same as Siesta Beach?

They share the same island and the same famous quartz sand. Crescent Beach is the stretch south of the main public beach — same look, fewer people, and Point of Rocks at its southern tip.

What is Point of Rocks?

A run of limestone ledges and tide pools at the south end of Crescent Beach. It’s popular for snorkeling by day and gives family photos a one-of-a-kind rocky backdrop at golden hour.

Where do we park for a session here?

We’ll send exact meeting and parking details when you book. The public accesses off Midnight Pass Road and Point of Rocks Road are limited, and the free Siesta Key Breeze trolley is a handy backup.

Is it good for kids?

Very. The sand is soft and cool, the water is usually calm, and the tide pools at Point of Rocks keep curious kids happily busy between posed shots.
