Clothing: solid pastels, comfortable fits
Solid colors work best — avoid patterns, stripes, prints, and logos. We suggest a pastel palette of light blues, tans, whites, pinks, and yellows; bright, bold colors detract from your face. Choose comfortable clothing (loose, flowy garments work well with the sea breeze), avoid anything transparent or that shows undergarment lines, and secure bra straps out of sight. For the full outfit playbook, see our what-to-wear guide.
Make-up: keep it natural
Face powder is helpful for eliminating unwanted shine, and natural colors photograph best. Avoid heavy make-up — especially mascara and eyeliner — and skip eyebrow or facial waxing right before the session. Matte lipsticks look best; avoid “frosted” colors.
Hair and grooming
A light gel or hairspray keeps fly-away hairs in check — just don’t use too much product, which can make hair look greasy. And a quick brush and floss before you head out keeps every smile photo-ready.
Accessories: less is more
Keep jewelry simple — oversized or excessive pieces pull focus from faces. Hats aren’t recommended for group shots, since they tend to block the faces of others. And if you can, remove glasses or wear contacts — many lenses cause glare or distortion.
Day-of reminders
Act natural and be yourself — and remember to smile, nothing is more flattering! Bring water and stay hydrated throughout the day, and get plenty of sleep the night before so you arrive refreshed and energized. Then just show up — we handle the rest.
