Kids & Big Families FAQs
Kids melt down and grandpa hates posing — we know. Here’s how we photograph real families, from lap babies to three-generation reunions.
Good to know
Questions & answers
How do you keep toddlers engaged?
We keep it playful and patient — chasing waves, sand games, tickle attacks — and time the session for when little ones are at their best. Forced posing is where toddler photos go to die; we don’t do it.
What’s the best session time for young kids?
Mornings are wonderful for babies and toddlers — everyone’s fresh, the beach is quiet, and there’s no golden-hour fee. Evening sessions work too; we just plan around nap and dinner schedules.
What if our kids just won’t cooperate?
Then we follow their lead — candid beats posed every time. A kid running to the water with grandma laughing behind them is a better photo than any forced smile, and we know how to catch it.
Do you photograph multi-generation family groups?
It’s one of our specialties. Wide, uncrowded beaches give big groups room to breathe, and we mix full-group portraits with smaller combinations — grandparents with each grandkid, the cousins together, every household.
How big can our group be?
Tell us your headcount when you reach out and we’ll recommend the right session and a beach with space for everyone. Big island reunions are regulars on our calendar.
Do you photograph babies and maternity?
Yes — beach maternity sessions and family sessions with babies are both favorites. Soft morning light, a calm shoreline, and short easy setups keep it comfortable for mom and little one.
Can we take breaks during the session?
Of course — the hour is yours. Snack breaks, water breaks, a reset walk down the shoreline: whatever keeps everyone happy makes the photos better.
Can our dog be in the photos?
Yes — pets are welcome as long as the location allows them and they’re comfortable around people. Just tell us when you book so we plan the spot and timing around your four-legged co-star.
What should the kids wear?
Comfort first, palette second — soft colors that match the family’s, nothing stiff or scratchy, and a backup outfit in the bag. Our what-to-wear FAQs cover the full playbook.
